We had just driven into Yosemite Valley and checked into the Awanhee, when a
cold chill began to settle in the air. By morning the first snow of the season had dusted the top of
the valley as we slept. It was stunning to wake to this and to the fog that hung in the Valley. I
grabbed my camera, with the black & white film, and before anyone else was up began to explore the
area. Nature is right there, the trees, the animals, the crisp air that penetrates the lungs with
shock. I just could not absorb it fast enough from my mind to my camera. Enjoy these selected shots
of that morning and be sure to spend time in Yosemite Valley. She is a wonder. Photography by
